I had some experience with the old thermal, heat transfer fridges in the 60s. Most used a small gas pilot flame on a .... Think it was ammonia loop.  Also ran on 120VAC / 12VDC using a heater coil. Used the 12V on the road and gas when parked. Used to take 12 hours or so to make a minature tray of ice!!!  Dometic made a lot of them and was one of the better manufacturers. The gas pilot would blow out and the thermocouple would shut it off. Course you didn't notice till your fish fillets tried to escape!!!

Well I am going to test mine to see how long it takes to make Ice, I think it will be less than 2 hours though.

Well I tried to make Ice Cubes but I did not have a proper Ice cube tray so I used some small containers and made some 2 and a 1/2 inches square by 1 inch think and the ARB took just over 2 hours to make them solid, I would say that's a Pass,   Great

That works.  Only issue is You have to freeze the lot to make Ice.  Just buy a small tank of Co2 and make ice on demand !  LOL  You could do all sorts of cool stuff if needed with one of these puppies.

You can super cool stuff just by putting salt in to Ice water, It will cool cans of coke in about 2 minutes,

I did my fridge ice test with it's main cooling area 3/4's full, If I had made an Air gap all the way round it would have been even faster. After testing my ARB and my Peltier Cooler and my house fridge freezer I found that if you leave a Small Gap all the way round they cool a lot faster and get even Colder also reducing the Run Time. Which reduces the running costs.

I thought my ARB had 2 Duty Cycles but the fact it All Fridge Freezers have Multi Duty Cycles and they are all dependant on how you Load them, Where and how has a huge impact on their cooling Abilities.

Purchased a few Peltier Toys from BangGood a few weeks back. Two came in .  Not had a chance to mess with em yet other then touch a battery to one.  Crazy thing got more then cold to the touch on one side and Uncomfortable hot on the other in like three seconds using nothing more then a 9v battery.    Not so long ago the things would cost you a arm, leg and a few other body parts.

That's Awesome, Great stuff, You know if you can get one of those WalFart Petlier 12v coolers and get a 2 or 3 inch hole saw and some plastic plumbing pipe you can make a cheap to run DIY Air Conditioner, I bought one about 5 years ago cost about 20 Quid / about $27 bucks and it has 12v and 240v and on the 240v mode it has an ECO setting and is whisper quiet so I think I might try and make it in to a little Air Con Unit,

People who own proper 4x4 fridges bitch about Peltier Coolers etc and although I have the ARB I love the Peltier systems, My Dometic Tropicool TCX35/WAECO is an Awesome piece of kit and It drops the temp down to 54*f/30*c below the Ambient temp and if I put one or two of those blue Ice bricks in there it never gets about 1*c/33*f in 24 hours and that was in 27.5*c / 81.6*f temperatures and it will cycle just like a real fridge,  You can't knock something when it works that good And the best thing I like about it is, It is So easy and light to move around even when it is full and it is as thermal as any fridge and another thing I like about it unlike a fridge they work at "Any" Angle even laying down, Where as a 4x4 fridge is good for up to 30 degrees of angle which is preety darn good compared to a household fridge,

Homie you should get playing with your peltier Gizmos because I think they have so many uses, I am not a 4x4 fridge Snob and I have found many uses for the Petlier Fidges,  Great

Yeah I know what you mean, I have been looking at the 82Qt version of my 4x4 Fridge today,

I bought a load of containers to put food in for my fridge and they don't all fit in but the bigger version they fit, being A Box shaped fridge I thought I had it all worked out but no, the two larger models have the same foot print but my one and the smaller one are just a fraction shorter so I am pondering about the biggest one.   Kiss
