hi eugene52, i think it would be a lot less expensive to buy a pre-made unit, used maybe, i remember heathkit used to put out a kit, and maybe radio shack back in the day, but it would have to be a labor of love no?  last time i tried something like this was to put a minelab sterling in an ikelite camera case, to make it an underwater detector....i will never try that again, or anything like it...i learned my lesson...thanks for writing, whats the weathe rlike there?  its cloudy and rainy here in upstate ny, but pleasant temps, and the moisture is increasing ground conductivity as we speak!  makes for easier digging too....its almost harvest time....b
