Yes its hot in Melbourne, 28 degrees celsius.
but nothing compare to Pilbara WA
TODAY’S forecast: stinkingly scorchingly unbelievably boiling hot. With a chance of showers later.
Several towns in the Pilbara region of northwest Western Australia are officially forecast to reach 49 degrees today, and it’s highly likely that one of them will nudge 49.5, at which point the official temperature reported will be 50 degrees.

I'll take your Melbourne 82.4 degrees fahrenheit any day of the week, but I don't wan't any part of that Pilbara forecast.   We get mighty close to that 121+ fahrenheit here where DustyCarl and I live, but fortunately we don't usually cross the 47.5 degrees celsius line

BA is right. 122° F (50° C) is our hottest temp so far. I hope it doesn't get any hotter than that. Our planes couldn't fly that day because they didn't have charts for that temp to set the flaps for takeoff and landings.

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

When the Air gets that hot, you don't have the lift.       Run Ways become too short.

Temperature is not the only factor in how hot we perceive it to be. Humidity also plays a big roll. I suggest we come up with a pseudo-scientific standard by multiplying the temperature by the humidity to get an better idea whose place is the hottest. Remember, humidity can also reduce how hot it gets that day, such as when it is 100% (raining). So I hope we never see  a 12,200 day here. Shocked
