Not me...my father-in-law.  I just want to share to those that may need or know of someone who do's...Theres a new button out there. Like "on star" general motors has, this thing works!  I believe its called 5 star.
My father-in-law fell last Sunday. Blowing leaves and tripped over the elec. cord. He's 85. He layed on the concrete driveway a hour before he crawled to the steps and pulled himself up to get in the house to call for help. Last year we got him a different device that if he would of carried it, all he had to do was push the button and it would have called us. To proud, said he'd never need it and would'nt carry it. Well now, He'll never go without it. Purchased at Walmart for 48 bucks, than sign up for 15 a month service this button he now carry's when pushed will call a service that will ask his name and address than ask how they can help. Again, just like "on star" in a G.M product. And...it has GPS! It will locate him anywhere! We tested it this morning. He pushed the button, they asnsered with hello, whats your name? Whats your address? Than asked how they could help. We told them it was a test to make sure it worked. They said...no problem. Call us anytime you need to. If you locked yourself out, need directions, anything. I toke the button 30 miles from our home today.  My wife got on line to find me. She did locate me on the map. I'm just saying...if your thinking of helping someone help themselves, This is a great device. My father-in-law will NEVER go without it again! It toke falling for him to realize he can't tell us he's hurt unless he carrys this. It will call 911 if he does'nt  answer and locate him by GPS. Maybe this will help someone you know and love?       Great cache

Great tip cache!  I could have used one of those last June when I fell off a ladder and broke my heel!  I had to semi-crawl, semi-hop to get into the house and phone my wife.  When I get old, maybe I'll get one.  I'm only 65!  (It is extremely hard to admit to yourself that you're in the process of turning into and old guy!)    Thanks, Cache!        Detecting

Opps  Undecided ...there not water proof, lol. You can however buy a  plastic case we found out for showering. They are called...Great call 5star responder wireless, personal security device. Look at them on walmarts website. Just type in 5star. No space between 5 and star.

Twice in the last year I've crashed, once on the back deck and once on the front walk, didn't do any major damage though, TG.  The fall on the back deck could have been very bad though, I fell quartering on my right side with my arm straight out and luckily my hand went right between two uprights.  If it had been 3" right or left and I probably would have broken my wrist and God knows what else.

It's so easy for us old farts to miss a step and end up face down in the dirt.  it's a little easier for me cause my balance is off a little due to my MS and a knee with half the cartilage missing.  I reckon I'm going to have to look at that gizmo.  Thanks Cache.

Hi, Gramps!  Good to see you're still about.  Sorry to hear about your falls.  This device sounds like it could be a real life saver!  I'm 65 and having small troubles with balance, too.  Should look into this myself!             Detecting
