Hi I just joined this website.  I'm not sure this will help. To help protect my knees I use a 4" thick piece of foam rubber tucked inside one of those hot/cold bags you get from store with one of those solid surf board looking things they use in swimming pools under the foam rubber.  This gives me a solid base with the softness to cushion my knees.
Get better soon.  Happy hunting.

Hi, Johnnn!  Good to hear you are healing and that both knees are fixed.  Don't overdo it too early with them so they don't get messed up again.  I have several friends that have had knees replaced and all of them are doing fine now.  You just have to take it easy until the knees are ready to do their job.  Good luck and hope the healing goes fast.

Ye take it easy Johnnn. an other month or two they not do any harm to the buried coins and artifacts, but they will do a great deal of good to the recovery of the knees.

Hi Rusty Nail, & all,
Thanks for your good wishes, and yes I have to approach our hobby differently so a cushion around the knees is in the cards just got to find the right one, but I have time for that.

the cushion seems like a great idea! take it easy johnnn.. end of April dose not sound to bad at all! Lets just hope the snow here in Ontario has melted by then Cry... Im hoping to possibly get out to a few 1812 sites this year, I live in Peterborough so its going to be hard to get out often, we dont have any sites really here in peterborough. It was settled later on in the 1800's for the most part. One neat fact I recently found out is that our founder (Peter Robinson) was in the war and served in a few battles I think, one being Detroit I think. Iv only been hunting at one war of 1812 site before, no luck really. I actually was going to hunt at a school near the battle of lundys lane but it seemed like the whole back of the yard was leveled out and washed of any relics... Lets hope I have some better luck this year!
Happy hunting and happy healing!,

Time to be eating Steak and Beans.  The Steak is good for the Mussels and stuff. The Beans get you up and moving.
