Hey everyone. Tomorrow is National Pi day (3.141592653-3/14/15 9:26:53 A.M. or P.M.  Ballons Musican Laola It happens only once a century although March 15th happens every year, this particular alignment  (10 most significant digits) happens only once a century.
Here is a quick math question. A man goes intl a pie shop and orders a ten inch Apple Pie. Yum. Yum. Then he asks the shop keeper to slice into Pi pieces. How many pieces of pie will there be? Tricky question.

Usually in the US pies are sold by diameter and so was his.

I should have stated in the original post that he wanted "the pie" sliced into equal slices of Pi width. Just to clarify the issue. He also wanted extra cinnamon and a couple of cupcakes.

By the way, can you explain how you got your answers?

Just like Colombo used to say in the TV series "Just one more thing....". I apologize to all of those in the countries that do not use the MM/DD/YY format. For those persons, Pi day would definitely not be tomorrow and for some never. However,  you can still figure out the answer, because Pi is Pi all over the world, with one exception: if you believe in TAU (Double Pi) instead.

circumference = Pi.D then circumference/Pi = 10 pieces but that's too easy so I have been wondering where I was missing it.

Clapp Beer Chug Musican

Congratulations Xavier, you have the correct answer and the right solution. The number of Pi sections in a circumference is always equal to  the value of the diameter. I made it sound hard so people would ponder the results they came up with before they made an entry. Too many people tend to automatically think they have the right answer without checking the logic. I am glad you asked questions and didn't send in your answer right away. Great job Xavier. Oh, happy Pi Day.

My answer would had been the whole Pie.  Reason?   PI encompasses the whole Pie.     I like Apple Pie.

Apple pie is yum yum. Hot apple pie is even better and with some vanilla ice cream melting on the top.
