The problem is that BA has been known to vibrate every now and again. Makes your computer screen jittery.

Me??? I've been known to explode now and again. With BA's vibrating and my unstable chemistry . . . disaster!

Are you saying that getting the two of us together in a discussion is a bit like transporting nitro in the bed of a buckboard up a steep mountain "road"?    You can't be sure whether the end result is going to be the useful removal of obstacles or the addition of a few voices to the angelic choir?

I say let's not all go out in a "Blaze of Glory" Grin. No "Big Bang Theory" here. Instead let's put your two great minds together and make this a greater place to learn, share and have good fun. (Kind of like it already is, only better).

Carl Why did you buy this model , And can you tell me a bit more about how it works and its sensitivity,

Thank you,

AU

Well, to be truthful, I did not do a lot of research on it. It all came about when I lost my pinpointer on my last trip out. I got on the net and searched for pinpointers, and saw several by Garrett, Whites, Minelab and others and this one. What swayed me were both features and price. I want to use this in the park or when the creeks are flowing again in the mountains as well as in crevassing. Being it is PI, it should work well in our mineralized soil, and being waterproof it can be submerged without bothering it. A nice feature is that it is microprocessor controlled therefore no tuning is required. Another nice feature is that their are no controls; just tip it at an angle and it turns on or off. I also like the fact that it only locates at the tip and not on all sides. The battery saver feature should make the battery(ies) last longer. And lastly the $129.95 + free shipping makes it less expensive than Garrett or Whites.
As far as the sensitivity goes, I can't say as it will not arrive till the weekend. I will give it a write up when I give it a test. Looks good in the photos. As far as frequency goes, it must be low just because it is a PI. So if you all can wait until first part of next week you might want to wait until then if you are thinking of purchasing one.

Shocked I think someone stole my design.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I hope I'm not sorry I didn't wait for yours.

I agree BA. Just remember, all it takes is a few kicks from the mules pulling the buckboard. There's a few here on TH. <grin>

Actually, I was thinking about us being in the same room. Mix that with adult beverages and nobody would get a word in edgewise. Put us around a campfire and all bets are off, mate.

Well, welcome sharpeink.   I've had a few Bits myself.    Why don't you hop over to the New Users Intro board for your second post and tell us a wee bit about yourself, like how long you've been detecting and what your interest are.

Still waiting on that Vibra-probe. It's somewhere between here and Tennessee. Might get here by tomorrow if Lucky, if not Saturday. Hate waiting. The detector is getting cabin fever. It wants to go out too and try its new coil. Grin. (Thanks again BA). I read some more about the Vibra-Probe. The vibrations increase in strength and frequency the closer you get to the find. It also works in the all-metal mode. You have to leave discrimination up to your main detector. However I feel when you are using it to do crevassing in bedrock, most any find is good, because you know the bedrock is capturing "heavies" so just keep looking.
