Going back to that spot we found in the mountains with my prospecting buddy this Saturday. Taking 2 drywashers, metal detectors, and my trusty pinpointer. also about 20-30 gallons of water to pan out our concentrates. Found another spot on Google earth that looks to be a part of that same golden highway. "Going to get my gold on route  66".....Wait a minute that don't rhyme. Victory

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

"Paint Your Wagon" was filmed very near and in my stomping grounds not far from my home here in northeastern Oregon in 1968!  Good movie, but Clint Eastwood fortunately refrained from singing in any other movies (that I'm aware of)!

Well didn't find enough gold to fill my Golden "Wagon", but I did find some. It's not much, but it's more than I had yesterday. Smiley. Panning and digging in cemented gravels took a lot of hard work and time. Bought a used spiral gold wheel to alleviate the panning part, But the hardpan dirt is a small problem. No dynamite or excavators allowed. (dang it). Also hydraulicing is out for several reasons (not allowed, no nearby water source, material too hard). About the only thing left maybe is a jack hammer. Undecided
Well anyways here is a pix of the gold.

I get your drift Xavier. It took us a while to find the pay streak level as it was. There are at least 10, maybe more, strata in this mudflow. Didn't have enough time left to make a decent run though. Had to leave time to fill the back up. But it's still there and it isn't going anywhere soon, so possibly next weekend. Bought a small used spiral wheel that should alleviate time lost cleaning up concentrates. My prospecting buddy is a hard worker and much younger than me. Trying to get him to sign up on this forum. I think you all would like him.
Here's a couple photos of us busting our hinney's in 100 degree temps.

Carl
