I purchased this Radio Shack MD in eBay last night. It seems like the Radio Shack MD I always stared at and wanted so bad when I was a kid back in the early 70's but could not have Cry . However, the seller's description claims that it is from the early 80's. I don't know but the characters in the original box look 70's to me. The van in the background seems like the ones that became really popular after the release of the 1977 movie The Van. Is this the same MD from my childhood? Anyways, I bought it for my granddaughter (soon 5) who is my MDing protege  Kiss

Oh well. The Spanish version of the specs show 1993. I think RS has been recycling this model around for a while.

I got this as a Chanukah present from my grandpa in 1976. I found a 1920's BUCK pocket knife, a 1799 large cent, a couple of horse shoes, some old dimes and pennies. It was the greatest present ever. They sold this through the 80's as far as I know. She'll have a blast with it. Have fun.

She became my helper the day she began suggesting me places where to find treasure. Like papa Roberto let's go to the beach or to the park to find treasures  Grin. Then there it comes the ice cream and the sodas, and the chips. Well, a helper must get paid somehow, right?  Wink

Double duty! Take one item off the bucket list and take a grandchild out treasure hunting. Gotta love it!

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Cyber, you will have a ball detecting with your granddaughter!  I had so much fun detecting with my granddaughters when they were younger.  Have a lot of great memories from it.  It lasted until they got into the 6th & 7th grades of school and got involved in sports and school activities.  Sure was fun!                        Detecting

That's for sure! Planning on going to the beach for shallow water MD while she does the dry sand with my wife. Just waiting for at least one more good day weather wise.
