The Engine seals went out about every 70,000 miles .   You had to R and R the whole engine.  No one wanted to work on them.

What I've noticed is that most of the Americans don't know how to work on European cars. There is nothing difficult about the rotary engine, in fact it's simpler than your normal combustion engine and can run at higher revolutions.

The Computer messed up everything.   My wifes Dodge Neon just about Sucks.   You can't find anything on it with out a Lift.   The Spark Plugs / Coil are all on top being a Hemmy.  Cool.  Why to hell would anyone put a Water Pump behind the Timing Belt?  Replacing the water pump, should be a 45 minute thing.  On this it's a three day thing. You have to take most of the Engine componits off just to get to the start.  Then Timing Belt Cover, Timing Belt, Water Pump, You end up Blowing the Air Conditioner Gas to do all this. WTF?

Yes you're quite right I like the old ford cortina and VW and all old cars for that matter, I like to set my points and to be able to change them when they fail me, the electronic ignition is great when it works but if it gives problems on the road there's nothing that you can do about it other than call a tow truck.

Well it's all about smog emissions they say that's why the computors, but now as Xavier says its go, or call a tow truck no in between. makes the repair shop money. I have a 42 yr old son with a 3 bay garage some 45 miles from me but I call him and see what the computors say when I break down just a little advantage for me. Some time back my engine light came on(2003 s/10 chevy pu) and I got a computer read out it said (1) the sensor behind the catalytic convertor-150$) (2) or the sensor to the water temp 8$ or (3) the thermostat(11$) so's I get a thermostat and a sensor not wanting to buy the 150$ sensor and the thermostat fixed it when I replaced it, Tell me that aint a bunch of sh???.  The electronic ignition was a good idea when we had carbs and throttle body carbs but now its too complicated and the new cars are way to personal inside for the normal person.  shortribs.

Yes I saw that on Yahoo when I came on tonight but have not read it yet and I have no idea if he will have to share it, but I would think that the law is the same as in England

With the advent of the TDI diesel engines and what some of the German manufactors are making   (90 mpg-4cyl) I just wonder if anyone will pull off the high mileage cars again. Here in USA some get 40-42 like the Nissan and Kia.from gas and the newer 3 cyl with turbos on them will be noticeable to watch.  shortribs

Well with fossil fuel getting lesser by the day one will have to find an alternative source of power, I was wondering what happened to the hydrogen engine?

Xavier  we (USA) have documented  known 240 yrs worth of oil under our earth here in usa and more in the Mexican bay area tell me why they aint using it, Here in usa most oil wells are shut down if they do not put out a certain amount daily?Huh? Whats going on here? We got more oil than we will ever use before the armegeddon comes.now their talking about a emi bomb from some one west of us as it will have an effect like sun explosions (solar flares) that will render our computors and EVERYTHING useless and shut us down so whats next??? One thing about the Europeans (English) they know how to use and make their own oils (above ground) like canola and other oils to make things do. they suffered many times over and know how to get by,as their canola is 3 times more productive oil in an acre than ours over here in usa. to use in diesel cars . shortribs

In South Africa they make fuel from coal and sunflower oil. Crude oil is like diamonds, put enough of it on the market and the price comes down and large petrol companies don't want that to happen. The De Beers company own tons of diamonds, they buy most of the diamonds that come on the market to control the price.
