Williston, North Dakota is a boomtown. My husband just got back from making a delivery up there and said that if someone wanted to make some money, that would be the place to go. He said the town normally has a population of 10,000 but has grown to almost 100,000 with oil workers. He said that there aren't enough places to live or eat for the people that are there to work. They are paying people $16/hr to work at burger king and waiters are making $25/hr. Landlords are charging $1500./mo to rent half of a shed. One guy that we talked to had a friend that told him to buy as many old travel trailers as he could find. If he could get them up there, he said he would buy them for 7-8K and still make a profit. Lunch trucks are making huge profits with long lines of people waiting for food. The winters are horrible but if somone wanted to make some money over the summer. There is money to be made to either work in the oil fields or service the workers....just trying to point out some opportunities in this sluggish economy...
