Over the years, I've heard of some methods to turn a land detector into a water detector--but have never done this... I would assume it would involve encasing the electronics inside a plastic box and running beads of Goop or some other water-proof sealant around any holes to seal the box off from the water. I've heard of folks using a type container such as a TupperWare container like folks put sandwiches in----as long as it works. I'd like to hear from other folks about their ideas on this matter.  Could a person encase the electronic control box of a land detector inside another container of say-plastic or PVC-- and have the battery leads lengthened and a battery hooked to a pair of headphones to make a wading detector out of a land machine? Let me hear your ideas on this matter.

The coil is mostly water tight .  Use a short handle to move it over the bottom .  The other component ( the lectronics ) should be put in  ANY container that can be made waterproof  . Say a PVC pipe , with the two covers  . The adjust the pot-meters you need a magnetic coupler . Keep the electronic part away from the coil . Strap the electronic part to your body .    Cornelius

However the coil is also probkematic as most land based detector coils will have a positive bucononcy while a neutral or even negative one is prefered for under water hunting - especially in salt water.

Regards,

Christian

Glue a tile to the bottom with the help of silicon cement  . That will take care of boyancy of the coil .  Cornelius

Thanks cornelius--Gluing a tile to bottom does sound like good method of weighting down coil--thanks...have you any ideas about how anyone would encase or place the controls in a box or some container for making a water detector out of a land unit or its electronics?

Thanks christian---those pesky floating coils are danged aggravating for sure in water.. Detecting

cornelius, could you explain to me about the magnetic coupler to adjust pot meters, etc. Great
cornelius, please explain about adjusting pot meters with magnetic coupling--what is this coupling and how does it work?
