Most intriguing are the ones that could be within your reach.

Depending on what side of the rock would make the difference on the one interest to you.

I personally think the Lost Dutchman Mine of the Superstitions just a story.

We have a Lost Dutchman story here in New Mexico that is swamped with inconsistent reports and stories.

Yet it has a pile more Merritt then the Superstition Story.

The Victorio Peak story I believe to had been True.

I how ever think the Military of the time Robbed it.

Things less Reported and More Obscure intrigue me more.

Like the Spanish Armor found in the Mtn side just out of town here.

The Gold Cross Found just a few hundred feet from the same location.

Silver has been found just above the Mission that Is / Was still located by a spring just down the Hill from there.

Now This kinda stuff stands up the hair on the back of my neck.

Since you are saying "of all time", I'm with Jones on saying the Holy Grail has to be on the list.  So, here is my list (in no particular order)

1) Holy Grail
2) Golden Fleece
3) Troy
4) The Seven Cities of Cibola
5) The Tomb of Ghengis Khan
6) The Tomb of Qin Shi Huang
7) Captain Kidd's Treasure
Cool The 1715 Spanish Treasure Fleet
9) The Lost Dutchman
10) The Templar Treasure

(and I really should have put the lost ark of the covenant in there somewhere....probably in place of the two Chinese tombs)

In no particular order (I'm not gonna number 'em folks!)

               Incan Gold
               Victorio Peak
               Lost Dutchman
               Montezuma's Gold
               Lost Cities of Quivira
               Oak Island
               Cocos Island
KGC Treasures (May not be real, but quite a legend has built up around it!)
               Lafittes many Treasures
               The Beale Treasure

And as a bonus...  King Tut's Tomb!  ( Although I don't think there was much of a legend until after it was found!)

I agree with Homefire location has a lot to do with interest, although I tend to perk up my ears at the word treasure no matter where it is  Grin

Arfie there are a few unaccounted for pharos who's loot has never shown up yet, although it's mostly academics dreaming of them.  Wink

I forgot to mention DB Cooper, although he might not be worldwide so much, he has maintained quite a following.

Hi all
litrfree most of us did include Natzy treasure and most of us understand your refrence to the amber room, but I also have good knowledge that after the fall of Hitler, the Allied forces recovered much of the treasure, some of treasure was also recovered by peasants that became rich overnight and migrated, just as an example portugal just settled recently with the U.N. on what portugal held in its vaults, like portugal many countries had vaults and accounts full of riches.
Now if you are in reference to treasure thats was removed from Europe just before Germany fell to the allieds, it is spread all over the world and in the ocean depths.  "Follow the money, see how population growth of S.Africa, Australia, S.America and many more".

Hello all

Litrfree what is the story behind the Jantar cabinet? I have not heard that one before?

cmaracing: Thanks for the interesting links. Inswer to question about the alleged map you posted. I am more inclined to belive it is a sator square. Luc posted somewhere interesting examples of sator square. Most were incantations for early religous pilgrims.

Idaho jones: Some good legends there.

Alfieboy:I have not heard that legend before  Lost Cities of Quivira, I am all ears.

Seldom: you right there is some interesting legends poping up here.

BA: You can come up with some good ones also. Yes the emporers tomb the one with the legendary model of china and a lake of mercury hidden under the hill even the chinese authorities are scared to excavate such was the awe the emporer was held in.

Grey rider: Have not heard the Charlie Daniels band for years Great The Devil went down to georgia was a good song also. When he plays that fiddle he is on fire.

Some great stuff here. Great

Hardluck

Hardluck,  The name Quivira is just another manifestation of the legends of the Seven Cities of Gold, El Dorado, Cibola, etc. which are basically in my opinion all about the same legendary treasure!  Be it true or false!

I agree with you that all of these are the same EXCEPT for El Dorado which is usually associated with South America while the others refer to the legend(s) that led Coronado and his fellow seekers into the wilds of the American Southwest and Midwest in search of gold north of Mexico.
