I suppose that if you grew up using the imperial system it all makes sense but it's still more complicated than the metric system.

As difficult as the conversion between units is when compared to to conversion between units in a metric system, I'll stick to "Imperial" unless I know I'm talking to metric users.....Used to bug the h*ll out of me that my dad insisted on using metric units no matter who he was talking to, especially while in the US (where he was born and raised).   Every time he'd complain about weighing 86 kilos, I'd feel like tell him there isn't a damn thing wrong with being 13 1/2 stones given his height and build.

You make me think of the Flintstones family when you say stone  Grin just goes to show how old the system is when you measure in stones and feet, and please don't think that I'm criticizing the system just pointing out how old it is.

Well, fortunately on this side of the Atlantic we use "stones" even less often than we do fortnight.

I think one of the most annoying things about it is when people don't give the correct conversion numbers, If your Hauling freight that can get a man in deep trouble,

True. It would definitely pay to have a conversion calculator with you in that case.

Well guys, here is a good question for you and it is not a "Trick Question".
Which weighs more? A pound of Lead or a pound of Gold.

Carl

PS I had to look, because I had forgotten.  Idiot

Ok I got only one answer to my question (thanks Homefire), plus a gaggle of other text about different systems and conversions, etc. Anyone else care to venture an answer?

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.
