Times up. The answer= neither. If you look at grains in a avoirdupois ounce and a troy ounce, 1 pound in either is 7.00 grains. My 3rd grade teacher put this question before the class when I was nine years old.  Her answer is in this ditty. "A pound is a pound the world around". Now if I has said ounce, you would have been correct by saying Gold. Thank you all for the good links, humor and input. That was fun

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.
