I know a few months ago Widows XP was eliminated !!!  LOL

Now they are offering a 100% free upgrade to Windows 8.1 .  They must be tired of all the Window Software problems and Windows 8.1 is the solution !!

I will do the upgrade to my secondary or back up computer and see how it goes ?  If all the other software works , like firewall and web browser . Music , photos and files then I will upgrade my main Laptop I use everyday and see how that goes ?

Comments on this New Surprise From Microsoft are welcome here !!!!  Its a new surprise to me anyway !!

No wonder Bill Gates is on vacation right now spending 3 million a week to rent a huge Cruise ship for him and his family ? !!

HH..............Regards...............Eugene

Hi Eugene , I recently bought a new Laptop with Windows 8 installed , don't like it , its too touch sensitive , I can upgrade to 8.1 for free but have heard this is worse , others no doubt have their opinions but the earlier versions like Vista and Windows 7 are far more user friendly , just my opinion ..cheers Mick

Windows 8 and 8.1 SUCK.    Full of weird bugs.   Green Screen on video pisses you off.  Keep having to Restart the computer to clear it up.

Actually Vista is not too bad.
Maybe I will wait to upgrade , when I am forced to do it !!!  Eventually People will get so upset they will go to Linux or Mac !!  What Microsoft is doing is not very good , No freedom of choice .

Thank-You...............Eugene

Vista is even worst that 8 or 8.1 DON'T upgrade unless you have loads of time to waste getting rid of bug's. I had 8 on my new laptop and after 3 months of it I removed it and installed 7, a very stable and reliable platform in my opinion.

I am just going to keep what I have and wait and see what happens .  It sounds like Windows 7 is much better than 8 .

Microsoft is going backwards in quality and stability  !!

They sure did with 8 then tried to fix it with 8.1 but it's a no no in my book. I still use 7 without any issues an no upgrades.

I had to upgrade to Windows 8.1 because I needed to use a 64 bit operating system.  I haven't had any problems with 8.1 yet (other than it took me a while to figure out how to turn off the touch screen on my monitor...it was making it difficult to get the right scale while editing photos).   Of course, part of the reasons I don't have problems with 8.1 is because I operate it in desktop mode rather than that new fangled Apps mode---makes it much more XP, Vista, and windows 7 like.    8 does not have that option.

Shocked I'm running 7 in 64 bit, no need for 8.1
