Vista is even worst that 8 or 8.1 DON'T upgrade unless you have loads of time to waste getting rid of bug's. I had 8 on my new laptop and after 3 months of it I removed it and installed 7, a very stable and reliable platform in my opinion.

I think 7 was vista without the bugs.
i still run XP on my main PC,i will stay on it as long as i can.

I haven't had any dealings with 8 or 8.1, except to hear a lot of gripes and cussin'.  I've used 3.1.1 on an old IBM 90; that was an experience!  No disc drive, 2 hard drives with only about 7 or 8 gbs total space, and if I remember right, only about 156 total ram.  That was an old used/first computer.  I bought a new (don't remember the brand) computer with a 300 mhz. processor and 256 ram.  After a game or two was tried, found it wasn't quite capable of running some of them.  Built my first computer.  Bought a 330 MHz  with 512 ram.  I installed Windows 98 on it.  That soon, also was too slow, so built one with and 800 mhz.  About later 2 months, I installed XP.  About 1 year later, built a 1.2 ghz., then a quad 2.3 ghz.  Not long after I built the quad 2.3 ghz., I bought a Windows 7 Ultimate dics and can use it on several computers.  Since then, I've built about 8 or 9 computers for the family and all are running 7 X 64 Ultimate.  My grandson enjoys a 6 core 3.4 ghz. with a great video card and 3D monitor.  But he's now wanting a better one!  There's no end to it.

But this is a new computer.   Less then three months old now.    Came with 8 and I made the mistake of letting Tashita talk me into the 8.1.....

If I run it for a day with out restarting it, all video like Youtube or Net Flicks goes to a Green Screen with good audio.   If I restart it it's good for most of the day.   All was working until It did a update about a month ago.

Down loading the Classic shell was good.  Got me back some of the Familiarities of the old windows.

Normally on all new computers by pressing the Ctrl and F10 or F11 when starting the computer will get you to a reset to factory settings screen (You will lose all installed software and all doc's) if you hit the restore button your computer will come out like it was when you first bought it, (you will have to install like when you first got it) this is a good option when you have a virus or if you did an update that's driving you up the wall. My first computer was a P6040 Olivetti then a P6060 with a 6 inch floppy drive and a huge power supply to drive the machine. This machine was a single line display (LED) but I placed a screen on it so I now had a terminal to play with. I then got a 386 with windows 3.1 then 3.11. Although I would not want to go back to them day's they were fun.

Actually Vista is not too bad.
Maybe I will wait to upgrade , when I am forced to do it !!!  Eventually People will get so upset they will go to Linux or Mac !!  What Microsoft is doing is not very good , No freedom of choice .

Thank-You...............Eugene

I had Vista too for awhile that somehow got a worm virus I couldn't get out. Even after wiping the disc clean and reinstalling a new copy from CD without adding programs the virus came back in just a few hours. I wiped it clean again, installed Win 7 32 bit and the problem has been gone for two and a half years. I also installed SP1 upgrade. I also have Windows 64 bit on this laptop. I use the classic view and not the AERO. I didn't like it on Vista.

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

You probably have a virus that's memory resident and only works on 64 bit, so could very well be that it still there.
