While detecting I detected a 1922 Wheat penny, it is quite crusty(a coating of crust). I have been soaking it in boiling peroxide and it is coming off, but extremely slow process. My club meeting(Tulsa Town Treasure Hunters Club) is Monday the 3rd and I must have it ready to show, as I know it will be a first place entry. Can anyone share with me a technique for cleaning this wheat, removing the crust, Please.

Wow. This is a loaded question and not one you should ask without searching our archives here. It has been asked and answered many, many times. Use the search block at the top right corner to search for an answer. You'll find dozens of different ways to clean old coins.

Good luck and welcome to the forums. Stop by new user introduction and say hello.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Welcome.     Everything GD said.    Try putting a pinch of Baking Soda with your Peroxide.

If you had Way more time Olive Oil seems to work but could take months.

Disclaimer.    Your Doing this at your own Risk.

After you Clean it up best you can don't forget to Boil it in Distalled Water to loose any Salts.   Baking Soda being one of them.
