While detecting I detected a 1922 Wheat penny, it is quite crusty(a coating of crust). I have been soaking it in boiling peroxide and it is coming off, but extremely slow process. My club meeting(Tulsa Town Treasure Hunters Club) is Monday the 3rd and I must have it ready to show, as I know it will be a first place entry. Can anyone share with me a technique for cleaning this wheat, removing the crust, Please.

Welcome.     Everything GD said.    Try putting a pinch of Baking Soda with your Peroxide.

If you had Way more time Olive Oil seems to work but could take months.

After you Clean it up best you can don't forget to Boil it in Distalled Water to loose any Salts.   Baking Soda being one of them.
