Cleaning those old coins

I've started to experiment with some pennies. These are just common - average ciruclated pennies that I'm putting into the penny folder (Harris/Whitman) that I collect together with my daughter. So I've done two tests here:
1) Baking soda - a little bit of this in the bottom of a sink and rub my fingers against the penny with the baking soda, and it gets a lot of the dirt/grime off, and looks much better for the album!
2) Vinegar bath - my wife heard from her dad who collects coins said to soak them in a vinegar bath for 24 hours. Again, we just tested this on 1/2 dozen of the extras that I'm going to send back to the bank cause I don't need them. She dropped them into the bath last night, and this morning they're starting to look really nice!
3) Toothpaste - I haven't done this test yet, but I plan to. I also read that this is a very mild abraisive and works somewhat similar to the baking soda method.

Again, for just common-average circulated coins I think this is a pretty good idea to clean them up and have them look half way decent.
