        Ive tried all of the above methods tumbled them sodiom carbonate , electrolysis, salt I found the simpleist and cheapest way is to soak your coins in vinegar dont mix the copper with any other .  over night to a couple of days depending how black they are then give them a scrub with a toothbrush under the tap , could neutralise the vinegar action waxing with bees wax or cooking oil rub on coins .

I'm presently trying the meneral oil method. Supposedly you can soak your coins in mineral oil for 24-48 hours and then wipe them with baby wipes or a toothbrush and they will be clean. I'm trying a batch of memorial cents first. I will post my results in a couple of days. This is the method used by a coin dealer from what I can gather.

The potatoe method sounds slow but the sodium carbonate sounds like it might be worthwhile
