This is an 1881 US buckle my friend found in the Illinois river in Ottawa ILL. We can't read to much on the buckle but 1881,something like-t.c. orndorfe sole mane-worcrester mass. and it has the US on the front. if you could identifi it email at rbert_2000@yahoo.com Thanks Ray.

nice find looks like its off a cartridge belt saw one like it same design but diffrent insignia

This is an 1887 belt plate for a woven cartridge belt...standard US Army issue...rather coomon in non-dug condition.
