hi snooper,be careful when cleaning hammerd,warm water bit of washing up liquid and a soft tooth brush,dont use any chemicals,if its real bad then put in in some lemon juce but not to long,then wash it in warm water....mike

Mike allready gave you some great hints. Never use any abrasive materials. Some people use teeth brushing pastes but they will grind of the silver. Lemon juice will work fine and won't damage the silver. Neutralize it with liquid soap, washing it under water. Then best use some clean wax to cover it and prevent it form catching any new oxidation.
