I am looking for the camp of the 1931 yawl wreck and where the survivors camped. Any info would be great!

Throughout my research I have come across newspaper articles in archives that cover this topic. I only have hard copies but would be glad to scan and send if you would like to see. I dont believe I have found any mention to the location of the yawl wreckage. Mr Julius Fielshmann of the Camargo first found the camp while on holiday with his wife and friends. The boys were not found at this time. I believe they found the camp near Chatham bay but will need to check. The three boys were found months later by a navy ship on the oposite side of the island near Dampier Head. I have a video of a few interviews that the boys gave shortly after being rescued. I hope this helps out a bit.

I tried to attach a few picture to this post. If the attachments dont work, PM me and I can email you a bunch more. The videos are backed up somewhere and I also have some ship logs and statements from the rescue party. I will need to track these items down in my records but will gladly post them also once found.
FYI - In the videos the boys look like they have a secret.

I definately think they had a secret! In 1949 Paul sent a letter claiming he knew where the treasure was, hidden inside a cave, he said it should go to the catholic church, the letter was filed and never answered. Later when Paul was on his deathbed he claimed to have found the loot. There was to my knowledge no follow-up on any of this. I would like to know, why no one questioned Paul, or if someone did, quietly. ;)

I have seen the letter you mentioned and have pictures of it. Why CR didn't go after it.....who knows. It is not impossible but expensive to go to Cocos. Thunting is a big no no. As exciting as this treasure is to research and what an epic adventure it would be to go, we missed the boat by decades. Perhaps we will never know what those boys found.
Food for thought- later that same year (1931) a sailor found a golden Madonna sitting against a tree. He later sold in in NYC. I wonder if this statue was something tht the boys unearthed then neglected to cover when rescued.

Probably, I am sure they knew the whereabouts, I think they assumed they would get money to fund their expedition and go back, and that never happened. It's too bad we can't find a memoir of the boys'! I have looked up treasure hunting there and yes you are right total taboo! However, I would still like to dive there, and just check some areas, and enjoy all the hammerheads lol! I absolutely love this story though, anytime I am not being as successful as I would like to be I go back to it, and then realize whatever I was working on is way more successful than this dead end! I don't know why but I like it. There is a book in the Library of Congress that I want to read, last time I was in D.C. I went to see it - maybe next time.

my great x2 Uncle, Arthur Max Stanton headed a team of explorers/treasure hunters to cocos island in 1933. I have been searching the internet for newspaper cuttings, etc, and have found loads. Every time i find another article it just makes me more determined to continue the research and to visit a few of the places mentioned among them the cocos islands. well i can dream. lol

There is much joy in the hunt and the exciting places it can take you. I took two research trips in 2013, 1 domestic and 1 international, both created memories I will enjoy the rest of time. I even got to sail waters that most sailors only dream about!
Can't comment on the joy finding X could bring as I haven't found anything that glitters. If you enjoy the research you have been doing, run with it.
