Go Up Go Down

I have been coin roll hunting for 6 months now.  I ask the tellers I meet questions about how the cash vault system works and have received conflicting information.  Each bank seems to have a central cash vault where they buy coins.  Is this cash vault Brinks or Lomis or other?  When coins come into the cash vault loose do they immediately roll them and store them on pallets?  When coins go out of the cash vault to they take the last in as the first to go out?  I keep score on my finds and have noticed a decline over time and recently am getting skunked regularly.  I wonder if all the coins at the cash vault have been looked at or if I am just in a down period.  I have gone through $112,000 worth of half dollars so far.

Go Up Go Down

As per other forums I frequent, This has become a big thing.

Banks are getting burned out on folks playing the game.

One guy went so far as to complain to the bank corp about how they rolled coins.  STUPID!   All he did was wake them up as to what was going on.

Just play the Game as long as you can, while you can.

It's not going to last long.

Just too many folks in the game and so many banks!

I know several guys who were big into coin roll hunting for many years both have stopped or slowed way down because the finds have decreased. In this bad economy more and more folks are turning to things like roll hunting and coin collecting to supplement their income so as Homefire pointed out competition is tough.

If you are mainly going after half dollars you probably are competing against several others. Also the amount you've run through you are probably re-running through the same coins again. I gave up a while back on boxes. I will pick up the odd roll or so when I'm in the bank if they have some.
