If you have access to a flatbed scanner, use it instead of your camera......works better for most people.

I'll be hunting an old train station in NJ this weekend. It closed in 1943. I havent found any silver this year but I'm feeling lucky!

If there's silver around, that's a good place to find it.... Just remember some of that train memorabilia can be worth more than common date silver.

One easy tip for taking pictures of coins is going out side and using natural sunlight. I normally use two goose neck lamps inside with different bulbs to get a decent color and shot. If I really get ambitious I'll toss a couple sheets of paper as reflectors. (Poor boy light reflector method.)  But sometimes you really can't beat a sun lit day.

That's so true Ghola! I have the same difficulty sometimes when I'm taking pictures of them, or my license plates as well. I've even resorted a couple of times to just have my daughter hold the flashlight on the subject while I'm snapping a quick picture of it.

The hood of my truck is my favorite outside place for photo shots. The neighbors probably think I'm crazy taking close ups of my hood.  Cheesy
