Hello All,

I have tried to take photos but the scanner seemed the best, but still poor.

For perspective, I have used 10cent USA on the lefthand side.
1849
9k
"ONE" is in the open wreath
Approx. 13 mm Dia.

Someone added loops to wear it on a chain which is probably why they lost it...and I found it Smiley about 15 years ago.

If you know what it is I would appreciate the info.

Cheers,
Barb

OMGoodness! All these years I thought this coin was American. Whilst, again, wading through all the pages for the American 1849C dollar...I stumbled onto this just listed:

I am waiting for them to send me photos of their coin. Description is spot on!

WOW! That would mean this coin has been around since before Canadian Confederation on July 1, 1867. Shocked
Brings a tear to my eye and boggles my mind...where's my mind...nevermind, trust me it's boggled.

Cheers,
Barb

Sounds like quite a find.   Just one word of caution---get the coin checked by an expert.   There are a lot of forged and counterfeit coins/tokens out there from that period.

Thanks BA,

I have read a lot about the forged and counterfeit coins/tokens why searching all this time. I actually thought it may be a counterfeit 1849 US gold coin, that's why I decided to post it.

Cheers,
Barb

a little ways down in the dollar section. Thing I see is it does not match on toward the edges. Have you checked to see what karat gold it is?

Excellent ghola!

Mine is near exact to 310 ...9K left, lamp RD to right.

Mine is slightly more worn on one edge. Even the face relief are near identical, the chin, nose, brow are slightly higher on 310 and mine.

Cheers,
Barb

Thank you ArfieBoy,

Now that I know I am dealing with a Canadian coin and other people know about it...I should have better luck. I took it to someone who didn't know what it was and another claimed it was American and offered me 100$ for it. LOL, I wouldn't have sold it because I keep all the silver and gold I find to pass down to the kids...I get the pocket change Grin
I have found some amazing things. The running joke around here is that I would be wasting my money and a MD when I can find things w/o it. Sadly, the eyes aren't what they once were Embarrassed the finds are getting far and few between.

Cheers,
Barb

homefire,

It asked me why I wanted to lock it. I stated, "The coin has been identified".

I am new to forums so I am not sure what to do with posts. Do I still want responses to my post if the post has served it's purpose?  Huh?

Cheers,
Barb
