They look like Chinese Feng Shui coins

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

You are right they are chinese Feng Shui coins, but I wonder what they were doing in the middle of the forest?

Posted on: February 26, 2013, 10:31:14 PM
The symbols probably mean their value or country. What forest did you find them in, what city was the forest in, what state/province was the city in, and what country was the state/province in?

I found 4 of these in a hole together in the middle of a park near Rockford Illinois . I was told that when the Chinese workers ( also known as "cooly's" at that time in history ) built our railroad lines they'd camp out where ever they could . Maybe they were lost by one of the Chinese work crews . IMHO , Woodstock

Thanks ! I[ve been detecting for over  30 years and have only found them once back in the 80's . That's the only explanation I can think of seeing we are not in Asia . That would explain why they are found in so many different places in the states . And they can be very-very old when they were lost in the 1800's and very hard to date . I've seen examples at museums where they were woven or actually made into decorative vests and even used on old doll's usually paired into males and females (maybe for wedding's) . One or two I have out of the four I found have etched break lines to make change (I guess) . Very cool finds indeed , I still have mine . HH , Woodstock
