Hello,
I live in Belgium at the border of the Grand-Duch? of Luxembourg...(new user introduction)
Last winter I have found  Detecting in a hole near the border 8 coins near a lot of empty munitions (.50).
I think it has belonged a soldier (US or British); it is said to me that they try to collect coins from crossed lands  Smiley
Here they are:
- 2 fill?r Magyar (Hongrie) 1927 (l?gende face: Magyar Kiralysag)
- 25 cts Luxembourg (avec ?cusson luxembourg)
- 3 coins de 1 franc belges 1944-44-42

Quite an international collection in that hole - bet you are right in that it belonged to a soldier. Might have slipped out of his pants pocket as he sat on the ground and remained there all these years until you found it. That's one I'd like to have beeped  Smiley Congrats and I enjoyed your post & photos. Sue

Hi Hiero

Did you go to the Ardennes yet when I was there last I met a fellow that had found quite a few things over there.

I live south from Ardennes in Arlon (near Luxembourg).
It was a little Gallo-Roman city and the area was full of "villas", there is also two "voie romaines" old romans roads crossing here.
So I think it's a better place than Ardennes but if you are looking for WWII items, for sure Ardennes is the place to go (Bastogne)...but never forget that can be  dangerous when you find old munitions Shocked

Nice collection......I'm not sure how the Hungarian coin fits into the collection or the theory unless either done after the war or possibly lost by an American of Hungarian descent who was carrying it as a "good luck piece/family momento".

Thanks for sharing this with us.

Hi,
About the hungarian coin, it's possible but perhaps a exchange too or ...perhaps found on a german soldier...who knows?

My dream is to save some of my social security money and go to Europe and do just what you have done.  A major interest of mine is to walk the path of those brave men. (Bravery is not limited to the politics of the combatant.)  I have accumulated a collection of about 30 helmets ranging from WWI German with a shell hole in it to French, English, Doe boy (American but same as English) WWII:  German, Russian, American, Italian, French, Japanese and an Afrika Corp pith helmet, and many more.

If there is any interest, I will take pictures and post them.
