Josey, sorry to disappoint you, but Buffalo "nickels" are not silver. Like all US 5 cent pieces minted since 1865 (except the war nickels of 1942 through 1945) they are 75% copper and 25% nickel. Jefferson "nickels" minted from 1942 through 1945 were 56% copper, 35% silver and 9% manganese. Half dimes, on the other hand, are 89 to 90 % silver depending upon when they were minted.
