Hiyas, was out on a hunt today and found the following, used a CAN quarter as reference.

Looking for more info, and I suppose I could just google "Chinese coin with square hole" but I wanted
to show it to anyhow, and I hate asking google everything.  Tongue

That's what it is alright, a Chinese coin. I remember as a kid my father giving me a couple of those he got from his travels. Long time since then and they're long gone.

Cool, thanks. I don't see that one in there, probably more modern, but still a neat and unexpected find. Still haven't got any silver
yet, but this will keep me happy for a while :p

DD, that style of coin is commonly known as a "Chinese cash coin."

Sweet DanZ, thanks. Guess I didn't look hard enough Smiley

"Y-190, "BOO Kuang" (Kwangtung mint) at the sides. This type was struck from 1890 to 1908."

Nice old coin to find, and although it's not worth too much, I wish I hadn't cleaned it as 'well' as I did.

I might add, this came from that trashy park that I went to that produced 41 pennies. I asked for advice here
as to whether or not I should return, and on that advice to return I found this. Thanks guys! Smiley

I will definitely go back there again, signals everywhere, but if there are more gems like this to find I will be happy.

You know I still haven't found any 'valuable' things yet, but this to me is more of why I wanted to detect, to find
something that must have had a story to get where it is.
