An interesting medal issued at the inauguration of the railway line on 8Th July 1895 from Pretoria in the ZAR to Delagoa Bay in Mozambique.
Two varieties of the medal exist, i.e. a single and double flange. It was struck in silver and bronze. Approximately 50 silver medals were presented to VIPs. The bronze medals are more common. Diameter 44mm.

Congrats on the find.   I wish the picture were a little bigger so my old eyes could truly enjoy it, but at least the detail is sharp.  Is there anything on the back?

Unfortunately this medal was not recovered with a detector. The silver medal is rare and not often encountered. The bust of President Kruger appears on the reverse.
