I swear there used to be a treasure hunting by state section.  I remember clicking on Florida and getting just Florida sites?  Am I crazy?

In Florida technically collecting artifacts is banned. There are several statutes and agency regulations that cover it. The most general does not distinguish between private and public property but this is in conflict with other sections. Also the age of the artifact is not spelled out although agency regulations are split on 50 years or 100 years depending on which agency you are looking at. It's a mess. It is interesting, In all the statute reading I read, none specifically outlawed metal detecting although metal detectors were mentioned as was digging. Some years ago some genius proposed a statewide ban on metal detectors. Sort of like fireworks. It didn't happen.  Angry

What's banned in CT, mate? I moved here in October.

Except for Norwich & Sharon, CT, this all seems pretty standard throughout the USA.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
