Go Up Go Down

I am looking at buying a Makro Jeotech Deepseeking metal detector which claims that it can locate voids & cavities. What I am looking for is a PVC pipe that is 3 feet long and 5 inches in diameter full of paper. It is buried 2 and a half feet down in a heavily wooded area. I have tried ground penetrating radar but the problem is it sees the tree roots the same as the pipe. The pipe was buried 40 years ago. The man that buried it also buried 3 other PVC pipes full of silver coins. No problem for my Garrett 2500 GTI Pro.

I'd suggest a rod probe with a T handle. The sound of a root or rock is quite distinctive and a plastic pipe should be as well. Look for depressions. No matter how much you try, anything buried always leaves a depression and a 5" pipe will leave a significant one. From that long ago, you will be dealing with all those years worth of mulch so bring a rake and you should spot many depressions. One of them will be your pipe full of paper.

Good luck! I'd love to hear how this turns out later.

Funny you should suggest probes. I just ordered some 1/8 inch titanium rods to make some probes. I had not thought about the depressions that might be left. That could speed up my hunt. Thanks for the advice. I will keep you posted.

Cool so what's the story behind burying these pipes.
Location not required,  just want to know why they were buried.

Thanks.

I'll say!

We should bury it and make turtle signs to show the governor where our buried treasure is. He'll be out there personally to dig it up.
