Go Up Go Down

Hello everyone, greetings from the Land of Smiles. I used to dredge for gold in the very cold waters of the Victorian rivers in Australia, particularly Icy Creek, which certainly lives up to its name winter or summer.  Also owned a Garrett A2B Groundhog way back that certainly paid for itself.
When I moved to Thailand a few years ago I sold all of my gear but now that I am retired I would like to give the muddy waters here a go.
Because of the high import duties plus shipping costs are a little beyond my reach now, I have decided to build my own dredge some where in the 3" range and so I am on the lookout for some good plans, preferably free. Wink My old dredge was a Keene 4" with a Briggs and Stratton motor which used to give me a lot of grief but honda motors here are fairly inexpensive.  Any help that you can give this old boy (68) would be great and I will thank you all in advance.
I also used to do a lot of fossicking in Australia so if any one needs help there please ask.  Anything from doubly terminated smoky quartz through to opals and Sapphires.

Welcome! Since you're going to be building your own equipment, I recommend you get volume 1 and 2 of Sam Radding's books.

Don't waste time and don't regret spending the money on them. You'll thank me later.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
