My new Whites MXT Pro came with a 13" coil and it is huge! Anyone hunt with this size coil before? Does it get really heavy out in the field or is the machine pretty balanced?

Did you order it with that sized coil? You can probably order a smaller one from White's or KellyCo.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

rhondasboy, are you refering to the 12"/300mm coil, that is standard equipment on the MXT 300 and the MXT Pro, If so I have worked with that coil for hundreds of hours and the answer to your question is yes but after 4 hours I take time to have a cup of Java and a feed,

Whites Have also bought out a 15" coil which will find objects at quite a few feet down and the 12"/300 coil does go very deep also,

Even on very fine/tiny objects, and it works very well on junk filled sites too,

WE Have some good info here on how to use that machine to get the best out of it so please give us a cll if you need help but it is the best alround machine that I've come across,

hope this helps,  AU

I have the 300m loop and find it is heavy and makes the detector front heavy. Course I have carpal tunnel in the wrists and it doesn't take much for the pain to kick in. I have scaled back to the 8" loop and use 12" in non trashy areas where it seems to get good depth.
