Excellent quote, I will bring it up at the next Pilchuck Treasure Hunters club meeting.
I think they'll get a kick out of it.   HH Robroy59

Hey Arfieboy,

Things are going well. Today I bought a VX3 and took it for a test drive.  Similar in some ways to the DFX but many differences also. I think the learning curve will be shorter but I will need to work with it in order to be good. It seems that the pinpointer is not as accurate as the DFX (or perhaps I need to practice with it too). The dealer did not have the wireless headphones but will order them for me. Right now, I am using the mid range White's headphones to get me by. Weather is OK (mid 50's and I will probably hit the beach for some MD'ing this weekend). I'm going to sell the DFX so that I can buy my wife another weaving loom (we both have to have our hobbies, right?).   Latest finds include a 1890's Swiss coin, 1872 French coin and a couple 1900's French coins.. Congratulations on the new detector!  What made you decide to move on to it, rather than stick with the DFX?  Just curious.  Good luck with it.  Temperature in the 50s, C or F?  My temp at 9:30am PST is about 27F.  Ground frozen, no snow, but cold and sunny.  Have fun with the VX3!     Detecting

Hi Arfieboy,

I really like/love the DFX however, I wanted the third frequency for gold/jewelry at the beach. As you are probably aware, there are more than 100 miles of beaches in So. France sooooo, decided that I am not getting any younger and I decided to take the plunge. However, I did not want to spend the money for the V3i (although I would have liked to get one) so I decided to get the XV3 with the same frequencies... After a few years, I will upgrade if I want. Also, my wife wants to buy another loom sooo decided that we can both have newer toys (equal opportunity family).  If we are both happy, it makes a happy life.

Yes, the temps are between 48 and 56 degrees (F). In the mornings it is between 25 and 34 F.  I am getting used to the VX3. The differences between the DFX and the VX3 are more significant than I first thought BUT I am getting used to the new one. Today, I found two french coins (both dated 1861). I think I will head to the beach next week after I put some more practice on the VX3 and feel more comfortable.. Coloma Gold

Excellent finds of the 1861 coins, pictures appearing soon in Today's Finds?
Maybe one day you will do a write-up on your experiences with the VX3 in MD reviews?
Thanks again for the quote, and subsequent notes, I agree, Happy Wife = Happy Life.

That pretty much sums it up Robroy59!  "happy wife = happy life!"  I like that!

Coloma Gold, it sounds like you are already having fun and good luck with the new detector!  Great finds!  Good luck at the beach.  I look forward to see what you find there, too!

Trade offs are what married life is about!  I bought a Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200 a year-and-a-half ago (with her consent).  But she used it as an opportunity to ding me about my "gift" (which I'm paying for out of my Social security check)!  I later bought her a very expensive diamond ring, but it didn't cost as much as my bike!  This Christmas we got her a H-D trike, brand new, with a touring package on it.  It cost 3 times what my bike cost!  Now, I have the ammo!!!   Weather here is too cold to ride it far.  We did go out the other day and put about 10 miles on it - I drove.  Fun ride but I like my two-wheeler best!  Now she can ride with me when the weather gets warm!                  Detecting
