Got a new Toshiba L675.

Windows 7

Built in Camera.

I use a cheapo Web cam to take my close ups via USB port.

This machine will not recognize the camera being plugged in the USB port.

Any Ideas?

Flash Drives work.

My other camera works.

Just will not see the old camera.

Help!

I need it for my close ups on coins and stuff.

Remember it is called Windows !! I had a wireless mouse with a little usb plug giving me trouble . My HP pc has multiple usb ports and I remember I had to keep trying different usb ports until it was recognized and worked , the funny thing is my printer plug can work on any of the usb ports !!!

Also make sure your camera software driver is the most current version installed on your computer.

I'm thinking the built in camera is blocking it some how.

The built in webcam should not affect the usb webcam because they use different memory resources. I would try another usb port or check the manufacturer website for an updated driver. The built in web cam on the Toshiba can take some nice photos for you. Some of the older devices will not recognize in Windows 7 which sucks.

Homie, have you turned on the Legacy feature in Windows 7? Some hardware drivers require it. You can set it up as either a system wide feature or in an isolated window that you call up when you need it.

I have had to turn on the Legacy Mode for friends who have Windows 7. I'm sticking with XP until the next really good looking alternative comes along.

Google turns this up:

Basically, I had to look it up both times. Try the built in help file and search for Legacy.
