Lets see if I can make this work.
Starting now I am going to have a monthly contest of the best garage sale finds for that month.
Rules

1 Must have been bought at a yard sale, garage sale, thrift store, secondhand store you get the idea.
2 Must have been bought during month of contest
3 Post pictures a must, price you paid and retail valve if you like.
4 Contest ends at midnight last day of month
5 For now I will be the judge but may ask a couple of other mod's to help judge in the future

This months prize is a copy of Michael Chaplan book The Urban Treasure Hunter or 1000 gold pieces out of my private cache.

Start posting now for Feb ends at midnight on the 28.

I'm going to enter Mrs BA's heavy (lead crystal (?) at least it is heavy enough and rings clear enough to be) vase/decanter that she picked up last week for a $1.....just so I can win by default

Show got it at a Lutheran thrift store next to where she works.

Was going to post this under recent finds, but, hey, I love that book. This is my "Thrift Store Silver" from last week. All pieces are sterling, and all except for the sterling and onyx pendant came from goodwill. The pendant was a 54 cent find at the Salvation Army. Spent just over $28 for the lot, and sold all but the pendant for $79.09 melt value, for a tidy little $50 profit.

My wife has a antique shop so she shops the garage sales and thrift stores daily she makes 300 to 700 a month on gold and silver she pays 20 to 30 bucks for. She bought a earring in Dec for a dime at a garage sale I checked and it was gold with what we figured was a CZ. When she took it to our buyer he payed her 17 dollars for the setting and 225 dollars for the stone which was a real diamond.
