Go Up Go Down

Initially I thought it might be the Lake Valley silver deposits in Sierra County New Mexico, after miners found a silver-lined cavity they named the “bridal chamber” 2.5 million troy ounces (78 metric tons) of silver.
But then I looked up the Comstock lode district in Nevada, and because someone else said it is perhaps the largest single find, hmm.  Until I find out some real figures, I cannot say for certain.
Then I thought, homefire is in New Mexico, so, unless I find a reference that tells me Comstock is larger,
my answer is the Lake Valley silver deposits in Sierra County, New Mexico.
HH and thanks for the quiz.  Robroy59

I don't think I'll win, but my personal favorite is the Lebanon mine in Republican mountain just upstream from Georgetown Co. on the Georgetown Loop narrow gauge. Rode the train, toured the mine, Loved it! The claim was that over 80% of the silver for coins minted in the USA came out of that mountain.

Not a Mining District.

Not a Accumulated find.

Not A total over a span of time.

Single Find.

LOL!   This contest has been over for quite some time.

Robroy won it.

Come to think about it, He never told me if he received the coins or not.

Howdy homefire, I just returned from a road trip to Foxboro Mass, and found a package of coins on my desktop,
along with a note from my Spousal Unit saying "You're too old to be collecting coins".  So I asked her, am I too
old to be out treasure hunting and finding goodies for you?  Blessed silence was the response.
Thanks for the coins, a nice collection, and thanks again for the contest.
