Nice find but you did not say what it is.

Is it a javelin?

Sounds like a great contest.Went detecting Tues.Mar.6 and dug my first 1854 half dime in good condition. My partner dug a 1857 half dime in good condition, our first double since we've been hunting together. I also dug 7 round balls,.36 cal.,.31 cal.pistol bullets,4-.52 Merrill Carbine bullets,1-.54 Starr carbine bullett,+ 1-.58 ca. rifle bullet. Not bad for 4 hrs. Would send pictures if I was smart enough, will send as soon as I can get someone to show me how. Have a great day Cheesy

Sorry it's a blind persons or should I say visually impaired cane. white with a black handle and red tip it's been in the snow for a while just how long I have no real idea a find is a find.....checking with police to see if one was reported missing there's no body close by to where I found it so that was good......The dog would have dragged me into the snow but she went about her pee business like she's supposed to.

LOL!   Most of us here are Grown up folks.

Blind, Retarded, Legless, Can't Walk,   No Left Arm is all in the Dictionary and fully understood.

I for one like leaving the Politically Correct Crap in the Crapper.

Star carbine bullet? How could you tell it was from a star, did it still have the paper/onion skin patch?

The Star Carbine is very rare, I had the chance to fire one a couple of time a few years back. It belonged to a collector, the guy was extremely worried when the gun laws changed down here, he was told by the police it would have to be handed in and scrapped (melted down). The owner was so upset he contacted the US Consulate and was told it was to them a rare national treasure from the Civil War and if the Australian government was going to destroy it, the US government would purchase it from him and ship it back the the USA.

As far as I know he still has it but at least he and his family know what to do with it should there be a law change by the socialists or the greens.

He was a very interesting chap, a ex-whaler who manned the harpoon on a whaling boat that cruised Morton bay, apparently he was quite happy to have left the job with all his fingers, something about the fuses for the harpoon not being drop safe, not even standing up to a decent bump against the ships railing. It seems that if he bumped or dropped a fuse he would drop or kick it overboard, some of his crew mates were not as careful and had the fuse blow up in their hands. A not so romantic part of a life on the ocean waves!

Post up some images of your finds, I'm especially interested in the Star rounds.
