This would be my best find. Found on a quick 1 hour before work hunt in August. 28 stones about 1 1/2 carat total 10 K gold ring. It was real hard concentrating on work that day.

Ed Donovan

Part of the fun of a contest like this is to see what other members have found over the year.  I have seen some very good enteries so far.  I must admit that although I didn't get out as much this year as I wanted to I did manage to get out some and found a variety of items.  I did happen to dig up some older coins yet this year and a few jewelry pieces.  I may have found items that had more value than this piece but can't say for sure since I'm not sure what this is worth or even if it's real but thought I would enter this item into the contest.

I recovered this little item back in August and consider it one of my best finds this year due to it being a unique little item.  Recovered it from the local fairgrounds somewhere between 2 to 3" deep I think.  The post about the hunt is in todays finds section

If the shoe fits...finds from Tuesday 8/14

The item being entered is the sandal which is pictured on top of a 56 wheat cent  to show size.

Seen some good entries and it's a great contest.

Good work Christian.

Here are the results for the Find of the Year Contest:

It was very very hard to make a decission as there had been only great items sumitted to this fine contest. But finally we came to the following conclusion:

1st Place: Ed Donovan, USA

Ed wins an orignal WWII Dog Tag for his great 10k gold ring with 28 stones at around about 1 1/2 carat total.

2nd Place: Joe from the Philippines

Joe wins an 600 years old iron Arrow Head for fantastic 1910 King Edward Gold Coin.

And last but not least the 3rd Place goes to Spidercan from the USA for his wonderfull 1925 2 1/2 Dollar Gold Piece, being honored with a fine 2000 years old Romain coin.

Thank you all for participating!

We hope you have enjoyed this contest and there will be another lottery soon!

Congratulations to all the winners.  Job well done.

Thanks for the contest Christian.  It was fun to see some of the items that people had submitted to the contest.  All the items were very neat.  It was a great contest. Grin
