I don't find many planes. I do though on occasion pull out a doozie.
This was found in an area where Wheaties were comming out by the dozens.... the oldest was 1920 the newest was a 1957. The house had been taken out several years before I got to the lot. A friend of mine told me he had lived there as a boy.
He remembered playing Baseball in a field next door to their home. I found very little in the field but it was a bonanza out back of the place. He said he did not remember the Tootsie plane but he did remember getting some cars at Christmas as a little boy in the 60's. I did not find any cars.

That looks like it was one of the first of the jets to come out.  It also looks to be in remarkably good shape.

It is the only "Tootsie" plane I have ever found and the only thing wrong, with the exception of a little lost paint is, it has no wheels.
And yeah, it does look as if it is a very early model of a Jet.

Update of Tootsie "Jet"
It was a replica of a "Lockheed" P80B
"Shooting Star" (Without jettison fuel tanks)
Original jet flew in 1944 Late in WWII, too late to have any impact.
The toys were first introduced in 1946.
Thanks for the link/info Steve.

I thought it might be a Shooting Star, but I wasn't ready to go out on that limb    :Smiley    (not often you see a picture of one without the tanks)
