Hello From Michigan,

By God's grace, I have enjoyed metal detecting for many years.  Another form of treasure hunting has been of interest to me for a very long time but I know little or nothing about it.  That interest is 'Dowsing'.  So that I don't run down the wrong road financially, I've a few questions if you please.

1.  How does one learn about the hobby of dowsing?  2.  Where does one find 'reliable information' about dowsing?
3.  What kind of equipment does one need (I have made dowsing rods out of heavy wire but they don't seem to work)?  4.  How does one learn about map dowsing?  5.  Where do I begin?

Thank you all for any help you may render me in this request.

Start by reading some of the previous posts in this particular board.....but be prepared---dowsing is very controversial with passions running high at times on both sides.   My personal opinion is the only difference the specific equipment makes is your degree of belief that you CAN dowse with that equipment.  (i.e. believing, or at least not being completely skeptical) is the prerequisite for successful dowsing----and spending a lot of money for fancy equipment is a waste of time UNLESS you need the equipment to convince yourself that you can dowse.   (and of course, if you are convinced it won't work, the most expensive equipment in the world is not going to change your results or you belief one iota, nor should it).

Thanks!  I'll wait the threads and maybe take a trip to the library to see if they've got any information on the subject.  In the mean time, I'll continue practicing on my home-made wire rods.

Go Up Go Down

As a child I watched some movie with a guy with 2 wires finding something, I was about 12 at the time. I cut up 2 coat hangers keeping the long bottom and cut right by the hook at the other end. I straightened them out to about a 90 degree angle and started wandering around the neighborhood. I kept the tips just pointed downhill a little, the wires crossed at a certain place and i went to the other side and they came apart. Coming at it from another angle they crossed at the same spot! My friend and I got shovels and started digging, at about a foot down we found where someone had buried 20 years of cans, and bottles rather than going to the dump. Looking for more we went by my friends house we found the wires crossing again but this time coming from a angle we found them crossing 5 feet away and them realised we could follow a trail it left by watching them cross and uncross for about 30 feet all the way to their well pit. The pipe was 5 foot underground and galvanised, still finding another line by the other side of his house we followed that one a hundred feet to our swimming hole that we played in all summer. digging again at the waters edge we found a white pipe and finding the end of it underwater it had toilet paper at the end and it looked like someone had eaten coen the nite before. We didn't swim in that spring  Angry fed pond any more! Doing plumbing for 25 years I have located 50 or more water lines and drain lines outside this way. I have had many helpers try and they can't get them to work. Everything has an electrical charge to it and maybe I am negative charged and this makes it work for me (or I am that positive) I think some got it and others don't, those who don't say it is a lie, those who have it make it look easy. Good luck to you! P.S. nothing works better than 2 same thickness coat hangers!                                              Mark

I learned to dowse with a GSR meter (galvanic skin response). This can teach you what the dowsing response is. No wishful thinking involved, no rods to hold balanced. I posted about this a while back, it's on page 2 of this forum. Once a person learns what the dowsing response is, they can learn to use other types of equipment. Most people filter out/block the response unknowingly. The meter shows you what is going on--it's a window to the subconscious. I think the analog type meters are easier to see. Now if you want to go all out, there is some neurofeedback equipment that displays 3D graphics of your brain waves but that's expensive. Think it's called MindPeak.

If you want to do some research there is a site called altered-states.net that has tons of equipment. The virtual clarity meter is a GSR unit although expensive, but there is some info to read.

Here's a video about how the mental programs in your subconscious can block your dowsing.

It isn't going to be of any help if you can't realize what mental programs in your subconscious are blocking your dowsing. If you continually read all the negative posts it is certain to have a negative effect on you. These naysayers try to rationalize things they can't understand. They spend hundreds of hours with their logic and reasoning. They try to come up with all sorts of formulas, radio wave mechanics, you name it. They sidestep, change the subject, anything they can do to spew their negativity. It's nauseating.

People do not believe they have blocking. "Money is evil." "There is no gold left." "LRL's can't possibly work." "Ghosts are guarding the treasure." "You're a fool for believing." It goes on and on. Nobody is perfect. In your weak times, you may start to believe some of these lies. Typically you won't even be aware that you have been suckered by the naysayers.

The GSR meter can help you learn about yourself. Just watch the meter and you will soon learn how your thought are affecting things, but for dowsing it is just used to recognize when you get a dowsing response. The meter makes a sharp, quick hit like a fish strike. Once you learn to be aware of this you can try using L-rods or whatever. I'm not saying you can't learn dowsing without one of these. Obviously almost everyone who has learned to dowse did not use one. But if you can't get the L-rods to work, you might consider trying a GSR meter.

I'm in total agreement how positive mental approach affects dowsing and negativity brings it down.  I have seen it for myself.  Also relaxed and rested mental state.  When on vacation last yr. my abilities were up.  Afterward I allowed negativity to creep in and my abilities plummeted.
