Homie, there are a lot of very intelligent people out there that believe in dowsing.   And a lot more who haven't quite made up their minds one way or the other...in large part because their is a whole lot we don't know about the human mind and how it process information.   One thing I am sure of, if you don't believe it will ever work, then it won't work for you no matter how hard you try---in fact the harder you try, the less likely it is to happen.

Personally, I prefer my metal detector, BUT I know too many people (including my wife---check past posts) that have had positive experiences to be completely set against the possibility.

That's good.    But I can't see it working.   People spend millions of dollars on LRD's too.   If you open them up there is Nothing that could possibly do anything but make a Meter move or a LED come on and go off.    Sorry, This Fish Isn't Biting.

As far as I'm concerned, a LRD isn't anything but a gussied up dowsing rod.   If it works better for someone than a stick or a pendulum, it is because the user believes it will (probably because they've bought into the bs about it being a scientific instrument which is enough to overcome their "dowsing" scepticism).

Long range prospecting is a dream but the term prospect doesn't mean "find." It means look. Many of us can get a feel for the geography of gold. We see the low spots where alluvial gold might collect. We see the places where the igneous rock formations are laced with quartz. We see the streams and note their meandering path that indicates where gold is likely to be found. You can develop these skills from your armchair by reading about the prospecting arts. Any of the Garrett RAM publications on gold are excellent and should be on the bookshelf of any serious prospector or amateur prospector. There are none better. Reasonably priced.

Go here and stock up your library right now. Save thousands of dollars by learning how to prospect instead of spending it on a dream machine that doesn't work.
