Chacha, I think I know why you want to dowse this site instead of a metal detector. From what I can determine from the photo is this site is in a populated area, There was probably a village or something there as well as farms with terraced gardens. I also believe this site has already been located by archeologists and probably is off limits to the public. In that sense , then you would be trespassing if you tried to sneak in and locate a treasure. Don't do it. [nono] [nono] [police] [police].

Welcome from Arizona. For the record there are a few (very few) confirmed dowsers on this site. From what I've been able to tell most of those are skeptical about remote dowsing (dowsing using either a map or photo). There is another group of people, including myself, that think dowsing is theoretically possible, but probably NOT for the reasons the true believers think (and I can't be too skeptical of dowsing without calling my wife a liar, which I'm not going to do). However, the largest percentage of active members are extremely skeptical because they have never successfully dowsed themselves and because there is no scientifically verifiable and properly documented proof that dowsing works. And these people very much apply the scientific method to everything, including their research into treasure legends. I can't argue with that approach because it is the most reliable method available to arrive at correct conclusion. If you want to believe in dowsing, that's your privilege and you will find a board here at THunting.com that is dedicated to dowsing. However, what ever you do, steer clear of Long Range Metal Detectors.....those are "supposed to be" advanced electronic dowsing machines. They aren't, they are a collection of meaningless circuits and wires that serve no logical purpose and that often aren't even connected .....and they're useless. Since dowsing is almost entirely mental the only way an LRMD is going to give you better results than a bent coat hanger is if you manage to convince yourself it will.
