I realize this particular string of posts are old, but I joined this site recently and just had to add my 2 cents
For you "who had the courage to map dowse" and anyone else interested, GO FOR IT!
It works, so does finding lost objects (even remotely), healing others and self, house clearing (negative energies), dowsing is unlimited!
One of the most important things to do while dowsing is to keep neutral, keep preconceived ideas/thought out of the picture, and most of all KEEP AWAY FROM NARROW MINDED THINKERS - Yes their energy can affect the outcome/responses via pendulum, rods, lecher antenna etc.
When you have some quite time and want to practice finding things, take several cards out of a playing deck, say 8.... choose one, shuffle well, the lay them out face down, now say out loud, or in your head, "show me the Ace" (whatever the card you chose), go over the cards with rods, pendulum or whatever you dowse with, (could even be a plug on a chain).... if you remain neutral you will find it!
Also when map dowsing another tip is to clear the map and the area it represents (energies).
