Hello all

Here is a treasure legend that became a treasure fact by the uncovering of shady dealings of dubious characters in the antiquities business. Being in that place and time in that part of the world, I had a chance to see the treasure for myself. It really got the heart pumping  ;D

The Murky trail lead back to two brothers in Lambayeque province in Northern Peru. The two brothers after hearing about local treasure legends were digging at night near a local ruined mud brick  pyramid complex. They started to recover amazing artifacts that eventually ended up in the homes of the rich and famous in Hollywood and across the world. There was many red faces when the scandal was revealed. Even museums had their hands dirty.

However the brothers under interrogation of the Antiquities police in Peru reveled the location of where they recovered the treasure. Archeologists were amazed that the extent of the discovery.

Today the treasure of the Lord of Saipan named after unknown leader buried in a Tomb that was found, can be seen in purpose built museum in Northern Peru. It has helped encourage tourism and much needed jobs to a historically rich and interesting region.

And perhaps that is a good thing.  ;)
