On the Accessories they dont seem to have the 10"DD coil listed and I'm not sure it might be
a bit cheaper than the V3i? I think

This is what KellyCo says:

What is the Spectra VX3 metal detector?

VX3 is closely related to the top-of-the-line White's Spectra V3i Metal Detector. The new Spectra VX3 features have been carefully streamlined to use only what is required for top Spectra performance, an easy-to-tune and easy-to-use great performing metal detector.

How do you adjust settings?
Another easy feature! Every setting is on the live control bar ALL THE TIME!

How easy is it to tune the Spectra VX3 metal detector?
Right out of the box the VX3 has been set up to be easy to use and programmed for quiet and smooth operation. Settings are easy to understand and easy to modify for more aggressive operation. And, the VX3 has on on-board "Demo" program to show you just how easy this detector is to use.

How deep?
It's a question Whites is happy to answer! VX3 metal detector has everything needed to get top-of-the-line performance. "Head to Head" with the competition, you can be confident of VX3 depth and performance.
The Spectra Series VX3 represents the state-of-the-art in metal detecting technology. Three frequencies, color display, advanced features, and the ability to use wireless headphones produce a powerful and capable detector. VX3 has preset programs developed and refined by experts, leaving you ready to find what others have left behind.

The Spectra series is the result of years of research and development, time-proven manufacturing and testing techniques, and, most of all...listening to our customers.

nice speech... but it doesn't really tell me anything!

This is the new Hot Rod replacement for the XLT coz they have stopped making XLT,
I think as soon as they run out of DFX's they will stop too.
Shame about the 10"DD though, from what Whites USA said the V3i can pull coins up
from 14" but they never said if that was with the 10" coil or not, but they said my MXT's can too
but they run the 12" concentric coil but i know it will run deeper cos I've seen a friend do it.
but to tell ya the truth i like the old 9.5 coil not the 950 and that has some depth too,

Do you think the V3i will dip in sales?

Or can it be upgraded to the new one?

No it wont Dip, and they do up grade the V3 to the V3i spec so when they bring out the new software
they will up grade the V3i to match their latest version, that machine is just about future proof

That would suck, someone spending 1500 for the v3i and then upgrading...lol to the Spectra VX3 which retails for 1100 bucks... I would be a little miffed

The V3i will be the flag Ship for a long time yet, the VX3 just gives folks a chance to own a Tamed down version
for people like us, I have no doubts it will still have the high Power that all Whites machines have.
We always hear when people say that ( In the right hands they will go deep ) But most of Whites machines
from the past Decade or so they have made them work so more of us have the right hands, instead of running
us out of town with brain busting set up's and any help you need is just a phone call away, when I bought my
machines in a couple of days I was out hunting my mate who had been using the same machine for a couple of
years, Which after about the first week started to get embaressing, and my mate is a wizzard with a detector
I have seen him master the most complicated machines and do it well and quickly I'm JealousLOL
