Hell I don't know why don't you just try it and let us know what's the outcome? also I can't figure out why you would want to do that?

As i made few coills for my 2 pi's and find out that same diameter coills work different for diffrent metals. Coill made on 25cm diameter made of stranded wire is better for small collors and silver and gold while same resistance one made of 0.7 solid is beter for biggest things in bigger distance. And second thing thicker wire give like stronger penetration but take more power so i just ask mybe someone try it. I try tomorrow with 4 differen wires soldered together on normal coaxial shape and on the lorentz type shape (lorenz is good but must be made of thick wire as is not penetrate too deep) all test done on polish avt 5196 sandbabnks clone

better sensitivity with deeper penetration ? Cheesy, i just was wonder if anybody try this. or at list detector will use less power. compare to thick wire

it's not the thickness of the wire that makes the consumption it the coil resistance, you can obtain the same coil resistance using a thin wire like 0.5mm  as you would using 0.8mm the only differance is that you will have more turns on the coil made from the 0.8mm wire to get th same resistance, One thing that will be affected though is the decay time of the coil. What you are doing using different wire gauges is like using different diameter water pipes, the flow will not be able to go any faster or slower than the smallest pipe, do I need to paint you a picture?
