Ah, memories. I used to do $100 a day quite often over in Perth. I'd get the occasional older coin. All down to technique. I would often meet a bloke before 0500hours and we'd chat. He'd tell me he cleaned out the area (then he'd point) over there but I would continue my search as planned. He'd show me a few dollars and I would say that I had a few as well.

The truth be known, my technique of digging every target turned up quite a few soda/beer cans, pop tops and bottle caps, but also very deep silver pre-decimal coins, gold and silver jewelry and modern coins. I'd fill the tank and get some breakfast on the way home. My dog was always with me (alone with plastic bags) and we'd bring some home to my wife.

Sometimes, I truly miss Australia.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

The good old days.
No more you have the area to yourself
Today there are more detectorists than ever before.
When I go out and there is only one or two looking at the same patch of dirt it’s a good day.
Thanks to TV treasure hunting shows and youtube
